Francis, M.D., M.S.
Associate Professor of Ophthalmology;
Ralph and Angelyn Riffenburgh Professorship of Glaucoma
Doheny Eye Institute, Keck School of Medicine,
University of Southern California.
Dr. Francis is an examiner
for the American Board of Ophthalmology, and has been honored by the American
Academy of Ophthalmology with an Achievement Award and Secretariat Award.
Dr. Francis recently became the inaugural holder of the Ralph and Angelyn Riffenburgh
Professorship in Glaucoma (2008). He also serves on the Ophthalmic Technology
Assessment Committee of the AAO, evaluating newer technologies in glaucoma.
He is on the editorial board and a section editor of Eyenet Magazine, and the
glaucoma section editor for Ophthalmology Web. Dr. Francis is involved in clinical
trials of glaucoma diagnostic technologies, medications and surgical procedures
and has published over 40 publications in peer reviewed journals, and has authored
several book chapters, and has published on the epidemiology of glaucoma and
related risk factors.
